Virtual TapeServer (VTS) Appliance

Crossroads’ Virtual TapeServer (VTS) Appliance is an integrated hardware and software appliance consisting of a server, RAID disk storage and virtual tape software. The software integrates a file system optimized for backup, tape emulation, media management capabilities (cataloging, media expiration, etc.), and an intuitive, graphical management interface.

The basic VTS building blocks are virtual tape drives and virtual tape cartridges that can be pooled together to create virtual tape libraries. Every VTS supports multiple virtual tape drives that respond to tape commands just like a physical tape drive. Using more virtual tape drives means more usable parallel backup streams, just as with physical tape drives.
