Crossroads VTS Data Replication Suite features two optional plug-in software modules that are used to create and maintain identical copies of backup data on VTS disk storage at one or more locations. In the event of a disaster, Instant/DR and AutoCopy allow remote recovery operations to begin immediately using the backup data that was copied at another VTS location. Instant/DR and AutoCopy provide a prompt and cost effective solution for usable recovery of critical business data to a live system.
How does Instant/DR help support disaster recovery operations?
Crossroads VTS Instant/DR provides an alternate approach for performing differential backups for support of disaster recovery operations, using two operating modes: synchronization and replication. Synchronization mode isolates byte-level changes in data and synchronizes the changes between the local and remote VTS systems by transferring only the byte-level data that has changed between the current files and the previous copy of the file. In file level replication mode, Instant/DR transmits entire files that have changed to the remote sites(s).
What is the advantage of using AutoCopy?
Crossroads VTS AutoCopy is an optional, on-demand add-on for VTS that copies one or more virtual tape cartridges automatically from one VTS system to another. There is no limitation to the number of VTS systems that can back each other up, providing an additional guarantee of data availability. The autocopy process is initiated automatically whenever a virtual tape cartridge is mounted, modified and then unmounted by a host server, thus spreading the bandwidth requirements over the entire course of the processing day.
